The Other Side of The Wall
Latin American Docs • 1h 8m
Directed by Pau Ortiz • Documentary • 2017 • 68 minutes
As their mother is imprisoned under dubious charges, and the father is non-existent, Ale (18) and Rocio (13) are faced with the greatest challenge possible. They promise each other to keep the family together - especially for their smaller siblings. However, as undocumented Honduran immigrants, their right to live, work and study in Mexico is under threat. Soon the prison wall that keeps their mother away gives rise to other emotional barriers preventing brother and sister from understanding each other. Just as they start to lose hope the family's life takes an unexpected twist.
A really stunningly intimate and cinematic look at life as an immigrant in Mexico." —Tom Power, CBC Radio
