Stigma Pudding
Pride 2024
•
5m 49s
Directed by Wayne Koestenbaum • Documentary • With Wayne Koestenbaum • 2023 • 6 minutes
Koestenbaum performs here in the persona of his alter ego, October Castelnuovo Spielhaus, who delivers an impromptu monologue, half-spoken, half-sung, describing imagined and actual ecstasies and tribulations. The film is an exhortation to the viewer—taunting the viewer to experience more pleasure, more intense and unfettered delirium, linguistic as well as libidinal. The film is composed of Koestenbaum’s hand-painted and hand-altered cameraless 16mm film (as well as some found footage and other scraps), which was then scanned, and superimposed over his digital video of October Castelnuovo Spielhaus’s soliloquy.
