6m 40s
Directed by Rachel Barker • Experimental Short • 2021 • 6 minutes
This dance film shot in Moab, Utah explores relationship between the moving body and outdoor environment, asking "what movement belongs here"? How are our bodies and physical histories connected to the landscapes that resonate with us, and how in turn, do our bodies affect our surrounding environment? The dancers immerse themselves in the red rock, water, and sand as the perspective shifts from intimate close-ups to grandiose panoramas, bringing the viewer into this visceral desert world. *Filmed on the ancestral homelands of the Pueblo, Ute, and Navajo tribes. We honor those who have gone before us and preserved this beautiful land.
