After eight years, American public school buses are auctioned off by the state school system. Filmmaker Mark Kendall follows the extraordinary second life of one decommissioned school bus as it travels from 3000 miles from Pennsylvania to Guatemala, where it is repainted and re- furnished as one of the brightly-colored camionetas, which bring a majority of Guatemala’s population to work every day. From the perilous journey to its new destination to the violence and extortion tactics that face camioneta drivers and fare-collectors, this is an intimate and sur- prising look at an American cultural object, repurposed and resurrected.
