THE ASSASSIN OF THE TSAR is a mysterious psychological drama / thriller in which the tormented chambers of a patient's mind come to warp everything around him, even the folds of history itself. Malcolm McDowell (A CLOCKWORK ORANGE) stars as Timofeyev, a severe schizophrenic in a Soviet mental hospital who is convinced that, impossibly, he's the killer of two Tsars decades earlier.

There are two versions. One is filmed in English which later was dubbed over the Russian actors, and one in Russian. Malcolm McDowell pretended to speak Russian in the other version and was later dubbed.
