Five films by Tiffany Sia
Tiffany Sia (b. 1988, Hong Kong) is an artist, filmmaker and writer. Sia has directed several short films, including Never Rest/Unrest (2020), Do Not Circulate (2021) and What Rules the Invisible (2022), which have screened at the New York Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, MoMA Doc Fortnight, Flaherty Film Seminar and elsewhere. Her solo exhibition “Slippery When Wet” debuted in 2021 at Artists Space in New York upon the publication of her artist book Too Salty Too Wet (2020), a sequel to the chapbook Salty Wet (2019).
Sia is interested in how material culture, particularly print and film/video, traces affect and enables governance, power and perception, and consequently, how such forces play out and construct imaginaries of place, such as Hong Kong. Sia has taught at Cooper Union. She currently lives and works in New York.
